My band did a benefit concert for earthquake relief after the 1992 Erzincan disaster.
Visiting a couple of years later was depressing. Concrete apartment blocks had just slumped and looked like a discarded loaf of white, sliced bread.
The picture is of farmland in the foothills. Erzincan itself is on the plain in the distance.

I remember Muş itself as being in a place where everyone seemed to have some sort of scheme that wasn’t to my advantage. I was on a road trip and had lunch in some transport cafe. It was like the bar scene from Star Wars. A steady stream of outlandish characters approached me, proposing travel plans, dodgy deals or ideas for smuggling things from wherever I was from.
This picture is of part of Muş province near the border with Bingöl.
Süphan Dağı dominated the eastern part of the province.
This construction was (literally) built like a shit brick house.

This is between Elaziğ and Bingöl, looking back towards mountains in Elaziğ.

It all seemed to be like this except the very high bits. I remember some fabulous music in a bar. Munzur in Beyoğlu lets me relive it.
