In the summer of 1992, I conducted a road test of almost all car repair facilities in Turkey. The methodology involved driving around Turkey in a mechanically unsound Fiat 132 Mirafiori. Turkish mechanics can fashion a new fuel tank from olive oil tins in a couple of hours. Gaziantep had the most efficient and inventive auto repairers. They not only addressed the new problems – they also fixed the damage done by the mechanics in the rest of Turkey.
I only have one picture of Gaziantep Province. It’s on the other side of the Euphrates in this photo of Birecik.
